The Standard Rooptop

The Standard Hotel in Downtown L.A

The hotel The Standard, located in the heart of Downtown LA, offers a wide variety of accommodation options and an array of on-site restaurants and bars. The venue undoubtedly stands out for its stylish rooftop with a bar and pool, providing spectacular views of downtown skyscrapers. Its prime location in the center of Los Angeles places its guests close to The Staples Center, the Fashion District, or the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The building was originally constructed in 1956 by William M. Keck, Sr. to accommodate the corporate headquarters of his family’s company, Superior Oil. The Keck family enlisted the preeminent architect of the time in Los Angeles, Claud Beelman, to design a building that reflected technological advancements and corporate optimism of its time. Its use of luxurious, unadorned materials and elegant modernist design established the building as one of the finest examples of mid-century Californian architecture. The majestic lobby has now been designated a historic architectural landmark. André Balazs acquired the building in 2000 and, along with designer Shawn Hausman, brought his vision to life, creating the vibrant and award-winning hotel it is today.

The Standard Downtown LA offers a great alternative to the traditional offerings of other hotels in the area, and the hotel provides numerous opportunities to work or play 24/7. The restaurant serves around the clock, and The Rooftop, the rooftop known throughout the city for its parties, offers an epic view of Los Angeles, unmatched by any other vantage point. It’s worth the visit.

The modern minimalist-style rooms are spacious and include Wi-Fi, a minibar with a fridge, beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, Bluetooth speakers, and spacious work desks. The gym is open 24 hours. Guests of The Standard Downtown LA Hotel can also enjoy the outdoor lounge, equipped with a fire pit area, foosball, and ping pong. Here, the fun never stops!
