Pacific Palisades, L.A.

Pacific Palisades, one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in L.A

Pacific Palisades is a quiet residential area by the ocean, featuring large private homes, spectacular ocean views, and plenty of parks and hiking trails. Its picturesque downtown, known as The Village, hosts restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. Neighborhood-sponsored events foster a true sense of community among residents. Many Hollywood celebrities reside here, so it’s not uncommon to encounter a famous face.

In this neighborhood, likely one of Los Angeles’ best-kept secrets (attracting fewer tourists than Santa Monica and Malibu, for example), you can find beautiful landscapes, a charming downtown, and stunning views. Its weekly farmers’ market, restaurants, and local shops contribute to its village-like character. The neighborhood is also home to the impressive Villa Getty, the second location of the Getty Museum, featuring Roman-inspired architecture and gardens.

Brimming with sunshine and a deep appreciation for the good things in life, Pacific Palisades residents, who stay fit, make great use of the expansive parks and beautiful beaches, spending weekends frequenting the neighborhood’s luxury restaurants and shops. One of the attractions of the neighborhood is its access to L.A.’s best trails, as well as its lush vegetation. Grab your best pair of running shoes and enjoy ocean views from one of the many neighborhood trails, like those in the Will Rogers State Historic Park.

This coastal neighborhood offers abundant outdoor spaces, but Palisades Park is the largest and most accessible common area – 17 acres. A short distance from the village and situated atop cliffs offering perfect sunset views, it features numerous sports courts, as well as its many trails, lawns, and playgrounds.

Pacific Palisades Village

Unlike a typical shopping center, Palisades Village is an outdoor mall designed to resemble a typical American main street that almost looks like a movie set. It has a series of smaller storefronts and mid-to-high-end boutiques, rather than a collection of department store-focused stores like the nearby Westfield Century City and The Grove. Most Village stores are women-owned businesses, and most are small chains with few locations. Some of the larger chains with storefronts in the Village have smaller-than-average locations, such as Sephora Studio and Chanel Beauty.

Palisades Village in Pacific Palisades

Each building in Palisades Village was designed by a different architect to create the appearance of an old downtown commercial district, so that no two adjacent buildings look alike. As part of the development design process, the design team traveled to some of the most pedestrian-friendly urban streets in the country, including Fillmore Street in San Francisco and Newbury Street in Boston, to study storefront depths, widths, facades, and architectural mix. They drew inspiration from the surrounding neighborhood “The Village” and Palisades’ “California Coastal” architecture to create a commercial village lined with landscaped balconies and open courtyards. All walkways and paths in Palisades Village are paved with brick pavers, which is truly rare in the Los Angeles area. The lampposts used in the village were inspired by those Rick Caruso saw during his travels in St.Tropez. Each building was stepped, and no two adjacent buildings are the same. A residential architect was hired to design the storefront facades facing the residences.
